ABOUT MIKE

Acclaimed guitarist and composer Mike Rood has worked with some of the world’s finest artists including John Patitucci, Danny Elfman, Tigran Hamasyan, Ben van Gelder, Rick Rosato, Nate Wood, Colin Stranahan, Arthur Hnatek, Drew Gress, Glenn Zaleski, Lucas Pino, Bria Skonberg, and Ingrid Michaelson. He has performed at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Bruno Walter Auditorium, The Bern Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Smalls Jazz Club, Iridium, and Montreal’s Resonance.

Mike was born into a family of professional musicians and began his formal musical training at the age of 3. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from The New School, and a Master of Music degree from NYU, where he was a professor of music for two years. In 2011, Mike released his debut album of original music, The Desert and the City, to international critical acclaim.

While not staying busy as a guitarist, Mike enjoys table tennis, arm wrestling, film, baseball and reading about psychology, physics, and history.
